Alžběta Volčíková is a dancer, lecturer, and choreographer from Brno. With twenty-five years of dancing under her belt, she delved into Irish dance in 2009, a pursuit that has since become inseparable from her life, shaping its course and serving as her artistic outlet.

Within the Irish dance group Démáirt she not only performs but also creates choreographies, conducts courses, and contributes to the group’s artistic vision. She competed in many Irish step dancing competitions and championships and was also a member of Dance in Pulse. She toured with the ensemble in France in 2015.

Beyond Irish dance, she actively seeks enrichment of her skills from diverse workshops, branching into realms beyond her primary genre. Collaborating with bands such as Dálach, Gruagach, and Clockwork Animals, her creative impetus springs from the emotive tapestry of music, serving as the cornerstone for her expressive endeavors. Music is the primary catalyst of her creative process, a realm where she finds emotions and thoughts. Drawing inspiration from the narratives of Indian classical dance Kathak, she imbues her work with depth and storytelling. Identifying herself as a conduit for musical expression, her mission is to transmit beauty and joy through her performances.

Bětka will lead the children’s workshop, focused primarily on the joy of movement — an essential component of life. Additionally, she will host a panel discussion titled “Caring for (not only) dancers,” aiming to foster an environment for shared experiences and insights on sustainable dance practices, nurturing longevity and passion in the art form.
